Walking is man’s best medicine – Hippocrates

Many other cardiovascular activities lay claim to these health benefits, but the great thing about walking is that you already know how to do it, you don’t need fancy equipment, you can do it at any age, it’s easy on the joints and body, and the risk of injury is low. I A recent study has suggested that walking is just as good as running at reducing the risk of health issues such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and heart disease! The point is,  walking every day is one of the best things you can do for your health.

Here is your challenge: Walk for 30 minutes a day for the next 30 days. Find some friends and start a before work, lunchtime, or “happy hour” walking club.  While 30 minutes is great, try working up to 45 or 60 at least a few of those days and you will truly see why this great form of exercise is man’s best friend!

If you want to try a 5k this fall, contact Concord Recreation Department at 978-287-1057 and join the Sleepy Hollow 5K on October 29th at 10:30.  This is a fun race for all ages!
